Moosehead Lake
Field Trip, June 2005

Moosehead Lake is the largest lake in America that is wholly contained within the borders of one state. No WONDER it has so many secrets to share with the Penobscot Valley Chapter of Maine Audubon. In just two days, we found 19 moose, plus bear, beaver, muskrat, countless hare, and 75 bird species. We also found excellent hospitality at the Evergreen Lodge in Shirley, extraordinary cuisine at DKB's Catering in Greenville, a delightful Moose Safari at The Birches in Rockwood, and a hidden Shangri-La at Spencer Pond Camps.  All this packed into just 51 hours? Yup.
